Wall St. Training Self-Study Instructor, Hamilton Lin, CFA introduces the major jargon and finance terminology in finance. What exactly is the sell-side and the buy-side and do they affect the capital markets and why do they have a symbiotic relationship? What exactly is investment banking, sales & trading and research? How is it that asset management is the flip opposite and yet very similar at the same time? Put those questions to rest with this Overview of Financial Markets overview.

  • Very impressed with this gentleman. He's smart, clean, formal and obviously intelligent. I also enjoy the way he communicates with and keeps the viewer interested. If he's not already famous and rich, I'm sure he will be soon.

  • Great content! Love it. Tough to find smart articulation of this level content. Well done! Where can we get more?

  • Who thumbs this down? Great presentation and interview prep.

  • Very clear and straight to the points, Thank you :)

  • I did this course about 2 years ago and would recommend it to anyone who is training to become an analyst. The topics discussed act as a checklist for the “game day” interviews and teach you the need-to-know topics as an analyst. I have also done the investment banking institute in NY and again in GA and would say this is the best alternative via the internet. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the price of the course since my employer paid for it, though I heard they offer great deals.

  • lol @ not a high-end clothing store

  • i'd like to ask you...

so there are three main sectors within IBanking, rite...

    1. M&A / LBO

    2. Capital Raising

    3. IPO

Since LBOs are done mainly by private equity firms that want to acquire another firm, do private equity firms hire IBankers to do the deal for them? Or do they have team within their organization that do it?

Or is it a combination of both?

  • Really useful!

  • Great video man really helped clear things up for me!

  • Mining Resources, Fixed Income, Technology, etc. etc.

  • I guess my comment is more of a question - with all the changes in what's happened to the players in the industry - is this information still the same/unchanged?

  • boutique; not a high-end clothing store lol
