@kenbigley I thought It was older than that dating back to circa 1914. It was designed and built by a guy called Joseph Mengel. It did far better when it was on the main drag at the pleasure beach. When it was moved to its last site there (a backwater) it was fitted at considerable expense with a new surround and roof designed by Geoffrey Thompson's architect daughter Fiona. Sadly it was just left to languish there until its eventual removal.
If anyone is imterested the whip has gone but its being built at dreamland margate heritage park opening for 2012 with rides from. There sister pleasureland southport.
