In 2003, the Expos finished within a few games back of the Florida Marlins in the Wildcard chase. The Marlins eventually won the World Series. Well, alot of people thought that the Expos were the better team, and deserved to win the wildcard that year. However, 2 major reasons kept them from winning that spot; First, they had to play "home games" in Puerto Rico, where the crowd cheered for them as much as the visiting team, and second, the fact that they could'nt call up anyone from Triple-A, due to Mr Selig, AKA "Bud", stating that it would exceed the team's payroll. Smells like a big, fat lie. Here's a tribute to the great team we had in 2003, RIP Expos!

  • I remember that very well, we had a terrific team. I remember watching the first game of the Phillies' series in late august on TV, which we won 12-1 and Vladdy kicked their asses...We were the Wild Card leaders after that 4-game series, and we had the third best record in the National League, after Atlanta and San Francisco. For a time, the Big O was crowded well. We had the team to make the postseason, no doubt about it, but after that series, we lost 5 or 6 in a row to put a end to our hopes.

  • Yea, and it started off with a blown save by Rocky Biddle at Florida, going into the bottom of the ninth with a 2-1 lead. Had we won that game, it would've been a wayyy different series. I don't know, sometimes I do believe the theory of "Robinson was paid to make the team lose". This team had def. the potential to make it to the postseason...

  • Amazing video! Brought a tear to my eye.

  • Thank you, I appreciate the compliment.... Yes, the video gets really sad towards the end...

  • I am waiting for the day when Pro Baseball RETURNS TO MONTREAL!!!!

  • I still have no doubt in my mind MLB did EVERYTHING in their power, including telling Robinson to manage like idiot, to prevent that team to make the playoffs after that Phillies series. They knew they would have a ton of egg on their face had we made the playoffs.

Fuck Bud. Fuck MLB. They won't even allow game footage to be posted on youtube due to their stupid rules. They stole our team and want to prevent us from re-living those moments, but they can't steal our memories.

  • <3 MVP Baseball 05.

  • The Expos were victims of circumstance.

The powers that be decided that Montreal couldn't support a team.

Then they sent in Jeffery Loria to make sure.

Try not to let yourself care too much.

    Professional sport is a racket.

I still love baseball, but I don't trust any of those in charge of it.

  • The expos had some good years in Montreal especially under Dick Williams in 1979-80-81, and in 1994 the greedy players strike destroyed the Expos best chance at a World Championship. It might have been an all Canada WS . But the Expos did not have a good fan base and the Montreal mindset is anti U.S. And Expo Stadium was a dump ! In summary Great Team lousy Frenchy anti U.S. fans ! They will rename the city Muslimtreal pretty soon as the liberal French white males give away thier country !

  • Bud Selig disliked this video.

  • @bachaka61 In that 9th inning, Frank Robinson, for whatever reason made a defensive change at 3rd base, from Todd Zeile to Jamie Carroll. And of course, just like it was a horror movie, Carroll misplayed a ground ball, and they lost the game. :(

  • @Pookatube i would love to see that but unfortunately i dont think its gonna happen for at least 50 years if ever bcuz of bad attendance the first time...but if they play in an actual baseball stadium people will come

  • @bachaka61 You're telling f22cool to get his facts right when you CLEARLY do have YOUR facts right xD. The Marlins won the Wild Card in 2003 :P Long live the Expos
