Tom Jones - Delilah 1988

Released 1968

I saw the light on the night that I passed by her window
I saw the flickering shadows of love on her blind
She was my woman
As she deceived me I watched and went out of my mind

My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
I could see that girl was no good for me
But I was lost like a slave that no man could free

At break of day when that man drove away, I was waiting
I cross the street to her house and she opened the door
She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more

My, my, my delilah
Why, why, why delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldnt take any more

She stood there laughing
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more
My, my, my, delilah
Why, why, why, delilah
So before they come to break down the door
Forgive me delilah I just couldnt take any more
Forgive me delilah I just couldnt take any more

  • !it's not that not like then

  • I heard this song first time sailing along Portugal coast coming from the Red Sea for Rotterdam. After several ports came to Hamburg and there in Carstadt shop found the last single record.Oh how happy I was to find it.After I went home Bakar-Yugoslavia,and I daily used to put that record on my stereo record player and with opened windows play it.Crowd of young people used to stay outside my home and asking to play Delilah again and again.

  • You all need to check out the Bruce Dickinson cover version of this song

  • we don't judge the book by the cover,

    it is what we feel

he is may be a legend

    a living legend

  • were is the sound ?

  • How did this song get associated with Stoke City FC? Tom's from Wales, not Stoke. Was the composer from the area?

  • 20 years later and still as good and strong as ever. He's a true singing professional.
