  • Is that a Gotschy "Phoenix"?

  • yesh

  • I can see, that you would have to be quite skilled to play one of these, no?

  • Not really

  • hey, I'm not exactly sure how a hurdy gurdy works, how do you change the bass note?

  • You don't. This one has C and G bass (drone) strings. They play all the time. You can either turn one off or both.

  • i always thought a hurdy gurdy is much bigger... like Anna Murphys hurdy gurdy^^

  • you are very lucky to have one hurdy gurdy, specially a gotschy´s

were i live most people would have to save for years to get the cheapest, they are expensive as hell

  • Yeahh !! I like !

  • That's beautiful, keep it up!

  • @DragonWorshipper You have an awesome name, you believe in Dragons?

  • Wow! What an incredible instrument and what a beautiful song!

  • ich sehe... einen Dudelsack für kurzatmige Leute =P

  • @Shadowchick25 Howewer if you are into DIY you can find instructions to build one on the internet for about USD 20.- worth materials.

  • I've had one of Gotschy's instruments for the last 10 years, and like Willie Nelson's battered old guitar, it seems to get better all the time. And it always sounds bette when someone else is playing it.

Unfortunately Helmut Gotschy had to retire from 'gurdy-making, but there are still quite a few good makers out there..
