First and foremost, I am NOT psikoticsilver, I am NOT the author of this mod.

I've decided to make a handful of videos to display what changes his fantastic mod has done to the world of Bioshock. His mod deserves more attention than it's getting so hopefully these videos can attract more Bioshock fans to try out his terrific mod.

Warning: Bioshock spoilers below.

So, in regards to this video what we're seeing here is the increase to the ADAM prices for plasmids/plasmid slots/player upgrades etc. that can be bought from Gatherers Gardens.

Here's what's happened to far:
3 little sisters have been RESCUED by me
200 Adam has been rewarded through Bridgette Tenenbaum.
So basically 200 ADAM minus 608 = 408
408 divided by 3 (little sisters) = 136 ADAM received per rescued little sister

In the original Bioshock Instead of receiving 608 ADAM thus far, I would have (80 * 3) + 200 = 480 ADAM instead. But things would cost much less from Gatherers Gardens, roughly 60 - 150 Adam per item, on HARD mode (if memory serves). In case it matter, I'm playing on Hard mode at the moment as well, I'm not sure if prices are different depending on the difficulty selected.

So what's the point of this change in the game? Well, not only does it make things much, much more difficult but it also increases the "realism" of your situation and most importantly it forces the player (as psikoticsilver had intended) to specialize in what they're going to be. For example, I intend to be going down the hacker route, relying on my wits and hacked machinery to assist me in surviving in this hectic place. Which brings me to my next point...

See how I decided to buy what could have BEEN arguably the most useless item to purchase from the Gatherers Garden? Honestly, in vanilla Bioshock purchasing an Engineering slot would have been one of my absolute last choices, especially early on in the game, no matter what the difficulty. But with psikoticsilver's mod, unless I invest ADAM in Engineering slots I will be unable to hack pretty much anything as the game progresses. Hell, I couldn't hack 80% of what is in this level without increasing my hacking slot to 3. This includes Cameras, stationary Turrets and mobile Turrets. We'll get into that in a future video.

That pretty much sums it up, if you want to learn more, or better yet, if you want to have a stab at using this wonderful mod, follow this link (copy and paste it into your browser's address bar):

Make sure you've patched your Bioshock game to the latest version, or at least version 1.1 which is what I use. And if it matters, the version of the mod that I'm using is version 6.01a.

Lastly I would like to add that this mod is intended for "veteran" players. It will increase the difficulty of the game by a large amount; this is assuming you DON'T use vita chambers. And best yet I can assume that in later stages of this game, where things get much easier, enemies will still give me an incredibly difficult time.

Finally in order to really savor the claustrophobic, hellish and dangerous nature of the world of Rapture better, I highly recommend playing the game with this mod activated, vita chambers disabled, on hard mode, and most importantly, keep your fingers away from the quick save and quick load keys as much as possible.

So if you're looking to spice up your 3rd,4th,5th,10th etc. run through the world of Rapture and would also like to increase the difficulty and realism of the game, I highly recommend this mod.

Big Daddy confrontation videos will be made and posted "soon". Believe me, it's some intense shit.

Happy hunting.

  • @27Killgunner the original game had very little in the way of difficulty, this mod makes it an actual challenge. No challenge no fun.

  • Dude, I'm not such an badass hardcore gamer XD I just play in my freetime.

But good Idea for the other ones

  • Why do you want to make the game harder? To make it last longer? More of a Challenge? To me this mod isn't so great.

  • its a simple mod isn't it, but you cant do much with no SDK. :(

  • You can't add to the gameplay, they did not release an SDK.. What do you expect? I challenge you to reverse compile the .u files and mod the game yourself, see what you can come up with.

  • So this mod just brings up the prices?

    How dumb.

  • so it's just harder, no addition to gameplay? thanks, no.

  • Bioshock HELL mod?
