Ok, so I was working on a project in the studio with my youngest daughter, Faith (10 years old), when my three teenage houseguests, who were upstairs jammin' and chillin', came thundering down the stairs and burst in shouting, "Oh! Dude! We have to record this song!"
It came together rather quickly (about 5 hours from initial take to final mixdown), and it sounds pretty good for being an impromptu, unrehearsed, unexpected recording. It's kind of awesome having such talented friends!
This latest version (mix) is the result of a few hours work teaching my youngest son, AJ (12 years old), how to EQ, mix, and fatten a collection of raw tracks. It's amazing how spending a little extra time listening to the details can have such a positive impact on the finished mix. I'm very grateful to AJ for giving me a chance to learn with him.
The pictures of Becca were taken late last summer on the Foss Waterway at the Tacoma Maritime Festival when she and a couple of other friends joined our pirate crew for the day. It seemed like a fitting series of images to accompany this song.
oh my god, i forgot that you made these photos public. we need to re-record this with less shrieking on my part. XP.
