It's was funny when Mother Hubbard "dropped out" of the picture at the end & the dog said, "That's one less." :)

Old Mother Hubbard went to the cupboard to feth her poor dog a bone. But when she got there, the cupboard was bare. So the dog ordered a pizza by phone! HA! HA! HA! :)

They were geniuses. Comedy geniuses. Who thinks like that? "OK, so 'phone' rhymes with 'bone', so she'll give him a phone. And then while he has the phone, he'll call up & order Chinese." Brilliant. They made childern's television that didn't FEEL like it was children's television. It's sad what has become of SS. Just another Barney, Dora, Blue's Clues that's unbearable for adults to endure with their children.
R.I.P. CTW. Thank you for giving a whole generation an amazing sense of humor.

@anteaterattack I'm with you- that dog is MADE of flashbacks, apparently. I didn't even think I remembered the sketch & then -wham!- I'm hit with a face full of childhood.

The people who came up with these skits were geniuses. They would take something that kids commonly knew about (like a nursery rhyme) and blend it with a lesson to teach (how words can rhyme) and present it in a funny and interesting way too keep their attention while teaching them something. Again, they were geniuses. Of course, now that I'm a big "kid", watching these old skits I saw as a kid are that much more meaningful.
