Flies are protien. Get your pot of rice and water ready, put something sweet on top, and wait for the flies and assorted bugs to hover. Then smack the lid on it, boil it up, stir it well, and you have protien and nourishment in one. Kinda gross (another reason I couldn't be on Survivor, lol) but guessing it might work. My hubby had to eat cockroaches in training, said they tasted like rancid peanut butter. How much worse could flies be? (Barfing while considering it...)

They need something for the flies. This place is even more bug-ridden than Kenya.
At least there are apparently no mosquitos. Can't stand any of those.
