Wonderful - as always for Walcha.
So nice to see dear Helmut'smile. Never saw this photo before.
Thank you, HRB.

Walcha takes Bach's hand and brings him back to earth

simply wonderful!

It's also instructive to compare the work done by Andreas Silbermann upon this organ (followed by others who however were careful to blend their work into what he had set as a foundation!) with what Frans-Caspar Schnitger did in Alkmaar - both authentically German-Baroque (even if with some stylistic variations and sub-school "dialects" that can be noticed). The Alkmaar organ's extra-crystalline ensemble however really is one to die for...

Beautiful indeed!!! I do however miss the gravity a larger instrument like the Laurenskerk can provide - Herr Walcha recorded this pair (Prelude & Fugue) on that instrument too, and having the appropriate 16' reed and principal on the Hauptwerk (Great) makes all the difference. Now, if somebody would upload THAT performance..
On the other hand, I truly appreciate the pictures here of St. Pierre le Jeune (organ + architecture - unusual that the organ is atop a rood screen in the chancel).

Very good, but the instrument doesn't quite deliver the gravitas this very famous Fugue deserves.
Stunningly beautiful church as well. I want to say that this is my favorite of Bach's organ works but then I want to say that to many of them while listening to them. Bach takes over my body and soul always. Thank you for this posting.

@11organista Thank you very much for your warm comment. This is my favorite Bach´s organ work too. I tried to play it on a organ in church, but only prelude.
