@ADRYANSUPERMAN41-You must understand that his team sucked, and the GM & owner were dragging the team downhill. We should have been celebrating him breaking this record 2 years prior to this, because Emmit was trailing Sanders. Barry Sanders had just the opposite team stucture as Emmit Smith. Unfortunately, when the signing bonus, and such started, Barry signed his career away with the Broke Down Detroit Lions, & quit. I believe, if Emmit was playing for Lions,his record would have been average.

@Kevthekid23 Emmit plus his outstanding linemen and team equals Super Bowls, Pro Bowls, and Broken Records. He also had enough wisdom to take care of his linemen with gifts, and such. I am teaching my boys to do the same. A Good O-Line is a RBs dream. Emmit was the most complete back, Barry Sanders was the best runner of backs, Gail Sayers would have changed the game, if he was not cut short in his career; Jim Brown & Walter Peyton, will always be the running back standard.

Barry Sanders has a record most people don't know about...the NFL record for the most carries for negative yards, these numbers totaled 336 carries for -952 Yards. Was he good yea, is he better better than Emmitt no chance. Bottom line it's all about the numbers. It's not what you know it's what you can prove. Numbers don't lie

and dont forget Emmit held out, not once but twice and the cowboys had a shitty record with that oh SO great off... line until he showed up and was ready to play....thou not his rookie.. oh and has any one seen the Cowboy Giant game where he plays with a dislocated shoulder. He is the the meaning of ground AND POUND..!!

everyone that says emmitt smith is the best are cowboys fans everyone knows that he gets 5 yards every play before a defender even touches him. I mean he is great but not the best. Hes not better than jim brown, walter payton, barry sanders, or even maybe LT. Theres a few others who u could say are better than him
