Undergrads: now is the ideal time to explore your interests! As students, we have the unique opportunity to try out working in different capacities and sectors without experiencing lost time in our careers. Functioning in different occupations will inform our career paths before we enter the full-time job market, when adhering to the traditional career ladder is commonplace.

Also, working in capacities targeted for students will make it so that employers will not suffer loss in sunk costs in training personnel they believe is in it for the long haul.

Take advantage of the opportunity we have as students to do some soul searching, and don't be afraid to leave your comfort zone... you never know what personal passions you may discover.

Mark Gonzalez is currently serving as the Community Research Intern at Arts for LA through the LA County Arts Internship Program. Mark is an undergraduate at the University of Southern California, studying Real Estate Development at the School of Policy, Planning, and Development and Philosophy at the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. He is a proud native Angelino and hopes to integrate his knowledge in arts & culture needs to develop LA communities that are socially, environmentally, and economically responsible. When he is not hanging out with the Arts for LA staff or sitting in classrooms at USC, Mark is re-acquainting himself with his City atop a bicycle and beside your car.
