When I think of WPIX in 1987, I think of how that channel (among the others) was on its downhill slide. I mean, I grew up in the 1970s watching all sorts of classic, CLASSIC tv shows and movies. But around 1985, cable tv was gaining a foothold in the area (New york City), and all that good stuff I grew up watching would disappear only to surface on some cable channel and never come back to free tv. (I didnt get cable tv until 1996) The Octagon is what they used to replace the real classic stuff.
