  • The reporter in the interview was Tony Russomano, who is an avid abalone diver, which is probably why he got assigned to cover this story. He's a nice guy - intelligent, but obviously doesn't know all the ins and outs of surfing. No big deal, his statement "didn't do it right". I'm sure he didn't mean to criticize Mark. It sounded more like he was just reaching for the right sentence to use in the heat of being on air in a live broadcast that evening. Spaulding

  • Wow you guys - is all this necessary? I'm the guy who shot this video and was interviewed. I helped pull Mark out of the water. Show some respect and chill out

    on this mudslinging. Steve

  • @MrIsomer yea and I'm andy too

  • Be careful!!! SOPA and PIPA are the newest threats to the internet world. I hope the TV news channel doesn't come after you.

  • that chicks shoulder pads were way out of style by then..

  • 16 years ago today on DECEMBER 23, 1994, Mark Foo has died. R.I.P Mark Foo.

  • RIP Mark. He didn't lose his life, he didn't put it down and forget where it was, he was killed doing something very dangerous. His life was torn away from him. He took that risk. To paraphrase the Steve McQueen speech in LeMans, a lot of people don't have something they're good at. He did. He chose to do it. He knew better than most what he was getting into. And he didn't intend to die. So, meaning no disrespect, it didn't all go to plan. Doesn't mean he wasn't a great guy. it can happen.

  • @MrIsomer Good points Steve. People should remember Foo for being key in reviving big wave riding. "North Shore Chronicles" written by Bruce Jenkins describes it. Ironic because Bruce lives on the bluff in Moss Beach. - Peace.

  • Yeh, newsman's ignorant. Do what you love, love what you do. Hoka Hey, it's a good day to die.

  • ...rip mark foo... my dad surfed w this guy when he was a kid. nutz

  • @MrIsomer I take issue with the reporter implying that Mark was killed because he "Didn't do it right". WTH? Clearly this guy had no clue what surfing is about- not that I claim to be an expert- but obviously even the best surfers can be injured or killed. The ocean is a powerful force of nature and surfers take that into account whenever they go out there. Mark was highly skilled and highly respected, and he knew the dangers.
