Great information....but I forget almost everything you say because you go so fast before I can grasp the concept of the previous thing you had just said...I understand that you'd want to make the video shorter by making the words faster, but that makes it difficult without having to press pause between each concept.

Damn you talk fast, but I finally can understand how to differentiate the two readings, so thank you.

ok so kanji is Chinese but Japanese use it too so kanji has 2 or more meaning and pronunciation on yomi is how Chinese read and pronounce kanji and kon yomi is how Japanese read and pronounce kanji, when kanji is a compound word there will be more than one kanji symbol used and that is when you would use the "on yomi" (chinese pronunciation),when it is a word by it self you will see harigana symbols with it and then u would use "kon yomi" (japanese pronunciation) is that it ? i'm a bit confuse

Thank you for this Delphine. I was wondering if you could discuss or touch base on verb conjugations. I have troubles remembering how to conjugate verbs from its dictionary form (ru form, etc). You explain things very easy for me, and it's been a big help with my studies at school :)
Ahhh! Thank you so much, Delphine! This lesson really cleared up a lot of questions that always left me confused. I appreciate you doing my request! I'm off to watch it again! ^_^ Can't wait for more videos, you're a great teacher!

Good explanation!
If I might add a couple of pointers, there is an extension to the rule of words with hiragana you mentioned - that is compound words that use hiragana, like 引き取り (ひきとり); also, for some reason words with 雨 tend to use the kun-yomi a lot - 雨水 (あまみず, rainwater) for example.
As initially confusing as the kanji might be, in the long run they're a big help - you can often know the meaning and pronunciation of a word you've never seen before just because you know the kanji!

Great video! I really enjoyed this one. I just got up to the 500th frame today on RTK and I'm starting to wonder what to do once i finish. How did you go about learning pronunciations for the kanji after RTK? Sorry if you've answered this before.

@jtstreeet I'm sure I'll make another video for the next step - I'm actually kind of in that transition stage myself. For the most part, you would be moving on to learn lots of vocab, which would be much more effective once you have that kanji base. More to come!
