Stand - Self injury poem

This is an older poem that I am reciting.

- Stand

She didn't say don't and she didn't say please
Plagued by the past, she's brought to her knees
Trapped within the skin that held her down
Only her breath could escape past her defeated frown
Help was a word she refused to say
Help was a wish she made every day
She searched for relief in things that were dark
Carved secrets that fade but leave their mark
She knew where pain self inflicted could lead
Her expression twists from grief as she starts to bleed
She pictures the blood as she closes her eyes
Drips from her wounds took the place of her cries
With the kiss of peace from a blade, she rests on the floor
Embraces the pain that passes, then rises for more
Slipping away from all the demons she faced
The crimson she drew was all she could taste
Released from relief was the breath she stole
A breath so deep from the edge of her soul
Her skin scarred and torn apart by her hand
She used the strength it gave her to stand
Days came before where she had stood taller
Days where choices that bled didn't make her smaller
She knows sorry will find her day after day
For relief that should have come another way

It's something I've thought of doing, but as yet, I dont have enough poems to fill a book.
