@LearningFrenchNow being required to study doesnt mean they actually learn the language... im sure everyone in almost every country is required to learn english...

@TheLinguaHacks students who are just starting off without prior experience learning languages. The goal is to get the beginning student past that beginners point and by doing that, the student must be motivated. Now, how would this beginning student stay motivated at the beginning stages? By seeing progress. As you mentioned, beginners see everything new as self evident progress and that's what we want for the learner. If we're not helping the student to see his/her progress through effective-

@Iceland1944 Hello Robert, immersion may work for some students, but for many other students, it can be frustrating if they don't have a solid foundation in whatever language is being learned. Thanks for viewing and commenting.

Every student in Brazil is required to study English in school.
I think it is good to hear the target from the very beginning for instance when you are doing homework you play something in the background, I believe this is good to develop ears but having the teacher speaking the target language in the 1st class, oh man, the teacher's showing off not teaching.

@Mecklybver I totally agree. I would always recommend listening to the language even if you don't have a strong foundation. It becomes a problem though if the instructors speak with a total beginner in the targeted language.

You said if you look at the percentages...which ones are you referring to? Also, you mentioned that the key is motivation and that the key to motivation is students seeing progress. Intermediate and advanced students get stuck at their level and feel like they're 'always repeating the same thing' but not making progress. They plateau. How do you handle them?

@TheLinguaHacks When I mentioned percentages, I just sort of made that up looking when I was trying to look at the whole picture when it comes to learning languages at an institution in general. You will find that there are more students dropping out of classes more than those who would stay. You're right about the plateau thing, once you get to a higher level, it starts to become difficult to actually see your progression. In this video though, I'm mainly referring to beginning students-

@TheLinguaHacks methodology/technique then that student won't have a chance to come to the point of plateau because he/she will have given up at the beginning. Thanks for viewing and commenting!
