@fabfabber With MIG it's easy to make an excellent-looking weld that still has serious lack-of-penetration and lack-of-fusion defects. These types of defects are rarely apparent from visual examination alone.
There are two types of welders in the world, those who focus on cosmetic appearance, and those who focus on AMPERAGE. The way to know that you're using sufficient amperage for a given thickness, is by making test samples, keeping notes of the current, and destructively bend testing them.

Thank god for this video, I just hope the company won't look at me while I'm doing this or else they might think I'm wasting material!
Is it necessary for you to be so rude and condescending? At least Kudeghraw offered a method with out being rude or presumptuous of this mans efforts to share Knowledge. You're the ass hole in the shop, aren't you? There's always one that got to put others down to make himself feel better. I'm just learning Mig for fun right now and these little tips from both this gentleman in the vid AND Kudegthraw are very helpful. Okay your turn now say something else stupid.

What the hell do you mean welding's not about looks. The way I see it, a crappy lookin weld ain't as strong and won't have the penetration needed.
