  • dude? are these the Uber Poi from DMP back in the day? i think DMP is on its way back too... FINALLY!!! lol

love the concept of 'box' point transitioning, gonna be playing with your style i think =]

see what it teaches me ^^ and those throws!! ohh those throws are sweet as man!!

do you mind if i steal this video to put to my psp? (you dont have to send anything to me ;P)

  • @willow2x no man i made those poi. details are up there in the comments, although since the youtube rejiggering the chain of conversation doesnt make sense anymore...yeah i dont mind you taking the vid and thanks for your comments :)

  • I was wondering if you wouldn't mind letting me know a few things about your poi. Mainly the weight of the head, handle and length of your poi. They seem fantastic for throws! I've been trying to get into "throwing" my poi but can't figure out a good head-to-handle weight ratio or length.

Thanks in advance and great spinning!

  • no prob: the heads are 180g play MMX juggling balls; handles are 50g cheap ass hacky sacks, small ones, about 1.5" diameter.

i hold em so that i grip above (towards head) the handle with thumb and index and the ball sits in the palm of my hand gripped lightly by the other 3 fingers.

  • i think air resistance plays into it quite a bit too - these poi are conical, but the way i hold them means that at the handle, the cone is squashed flat. this creates folds all the way up - so the poi are like a fat "+" shape, which catches more air than a cone. and the fact that theyre conical means they catch more air near the head than near the handle, slowing the spin a little.

  • you can see it on the antispin at about 0:10 - there was a strong breeze from my left, so the poi are curved coz the head is catching more wind, gradually getting less as it nears the handle.

all that said tho, i think you can learn to throw anything really! try not to use poi that have a lot of bounce. play around with different ones and see what you like, but bear in mind that changing weights will change how you do other moves, e.g. the CAP pattern gets alot more difficult with heavy poi

  • really lovely videos. great moves, great control. good everything.

  • @aramanamu Amazing!! nice one dude, it makes learning so much easier when you can take the moves with you =]

i jus wish psp had the option to slow the vid down a lil cause id have to edit it other wise =/

which doesnt take long but its an annoying hassle when i should be able to jus press a button lol

one of my lovley awesome friend is making me a set of poi with our of some beautiful silky purple stuff =D

  • cool style.

  • I got some great ideas from this, not a bad guitar track either. Thanks for the info about counterweights, hacky sacs are perfect!
