This kid is so lucky he lived.
We treated someone who'd been stabbed in the chest w/ a paring knife, one of the small ones, so I thought it probably wouldn't hit anything vital b/c of the shortness of the blade.
Well the blade entered the chest at an angle and pierced the aorta, and the patient died before they could repair it.
Stab wounds are extremely devious. There can be more damage actually occurring than it looks like on the surface.

Don't run with scissors. Common life lesson everyone should teach their kids.

God, gave him the strength to go tell his mom.

why dont you pull something out of its stabbed you, is it because it can rip more tissue and due more damage or something?

@evian1230 An impaled object could be acting as a cork, keeping blood from escaping your body. If you pull the object out, it could cause you to bleed to death, especially if a major vein or artery has been punctured. This point is illustrated quite graphically in the movie Saw IV, although I wouldn't recommend watching that unless you like gory movies.
