Played on Hortense de Beauharnais own Pianoforte.
Made by Erard in 1802 and it is on this piano that Hortense compose Partant pour la syrie while her mother empress Joséphine was playing tick tac toe in 1808 at château Malmaison.
It was on exposition at the Conservatoire de Lausanne Switzerland for the "Harmoniques" exposition and concerts. The instrument has now been sold to a Russian "nouveau riche" collector. I hope that he shall look after this piece of french history.

  • What is the name of the Composer please? You are seriously contributing to this site by doing something different and interesting. It is a joy to hear these antique pianos! Persoanlly I rate musicality about 500 times above technique and I think you are doing a great job! Thanks for the nice start to my morning! Best wishes, Jonathan

  • Hi, The composer is Hortense de Beauharnais Napoléon Bonaparte's step daughter and sister by mariage.
