Alien syndrome was a good sega coin-op in the late 80's.
This updated version for PSP can easily be overlooked after the poor reviews it received.
I personally like it, although it is technically flawed.
You take control of a female to investigate strange happenings onboard a huge starship. No contact has been received from the ships personnel for some time.
You get to select your character class from a menu at the start of the game. Depending on your class, you get to select your best and favoured abilities.
As you move around the starships decks you soon come into contact with a whole host of hostile alien lifeforms.
Graphics for Alien syndrome are at first glance, rather basic and can put you off the game, especially your little stick like character. The game offers a rather annoying top down view that have irritatingly placed enviroment graphics, this approach can actually obscure your view of whats happening in the game.
Sound effects are good with plenty of blast! bang! wallop! accompanied by lots of alien effects. The music is rather bland though, the music tempo in this sort of game should go up a few gears to generate excitement.
So the game sounds really bad yeah? Well, it's actually a good game if you can forgive the above flaws.
Gameplay consists of blasting through waves of creepy aliens and upgrading your character's skills, weapons, armour, gadgets and gizmos. Along with recycling your wares to produce ammo, medpacks, shield ect.
you can also link up with a friend and both play together against the alien waves.
A good game idea that's badly implemented. this game offers plenty of action and fun but is let down by bad camera views and lack of detailed graphics.
