@thedoobieman5 no, i wouldn't do d-casings using rye as substrate. If you wanna use rye, you should start colonizing a jar or a spawnbag.

@sonnyonshrooms Hey there. I'm only familiar with the PF tek but I was wondering if you make casings with grain spawn the same way as with popcorn in this video?
-
So how do you know when to take the tin foil off?
-
@smoky281 for some genes it works quite nice, but i would adive a different tek. For example pf-tek is nice for beginners. i prefer the tek where you create a rye spawn, and then later add a casing layer to it.
-
@sonnyonshrooms what will u say about this tek..
better? same? use for only some genes?
-
@veXati0n No, not with this methode. To be honest, it's been a while since i did this dcasing tek.
-
Wow, very fascinating. Did you find any issues with lack of moisture?

I´m Glad of you for your knowlegde, i´m sure i´ll need your help later...
maybe some1 here can HELP ME!! lol
im wondering if when my jars are fully colonized
can i just throw them into trays, apply no casing layer and just cover the tray with a piece of tinfoil until the tray is fully colonized then take the tinfoil off exposing a little light causing fruiting
will with work with cubensis? thanks people

@skillz139 Yes this is possible, but a casing layer provides humidity. For some reason, the casing helps to trigger pins to pop up. the first cakes i had, i also didn't case. only had mushroom growing out of it.
