@SocratesTheGadfly I know that he is FREE now and happy and joined his family and siblings but i do feel sorry for the young boy he was.Deeply unhappy compared to the mouse!I celebrate his memory because he revolutioned many things and cut his braid and did many other things...

@fisteberg well you really should not feel sorry for Pu Yi since he is FREE now and has joined his ancestors in Heaven above Earth and his Soul and Spirit are Happy and Free from the travesties of this life of flesh. instead of feeling sorry one should celebrate his life and his memory.

@leamorena89 I do feel more sorry and sad for PU Yi than for the mouse you know.Pu yi was a prisoner,and couldn't express his feelings,couldn't leave outside the forbidden city,had no friends,no life!!the mouse is killed yes but it is an animal.Pu yi was a boy.A human being with no life and joy at all.Sadder!!

@sidrahsiddiqui yes, it may have just been a very impulsive decision out of anger and frustration and just wanting something to do. again consult the director's cut of this movie along with the director's commentary which may give a better insight into the direction of the director.

@SocratesTheGadfly i agree with your interpretation, it could be one reason. the other could be that he killed the mouse, because in his frustration, it aroused negative feelings in him and he became violent. this is something that does happen to people when they suddenly become violent to express their frustration.

@sidrahsiddiqui there may be a variety of reasons for the character of pu yi in this movie to have killed his pet mouse and for that you would have to ask the director or writers for that particular scene. however, my feeling is that the character of pu yi was frustrated and angry at being locked inside the forbidden city and as a prisoner he could not leave the city. as such he "FREED" his mouse by killing it through death which as a young man he thought was his only choice.
