Truck driving is not always about the drive. As a newbie I never realized how much paper and "macro" work was behind trucking. It really overwhelmed me when I first started. So I figured I would let everyone in on the paperwork behind trucking so hopefully you get a good understanding and if anything, maybe even feel confident with the paperwork side of trucking... Enjoy -- Your Boy E

  • Good video(s) Thanks for the insight as to planning/selecting trips. I always figured dispatch planed it all. THX, Be safe!

  • @hopland1165 Dispatch plans everything, but they send it to you for you to double check. They don't take into consideration sometimes, some of the key factors in planning, drops/hooks/pti/scaling/ hills/speed controls/weather and so on… so its best to look everything over to let them know if you can pull it off.. once you say yes, your not responsible to get it done :)

  • ur good im about to go to trucking school and this is good to know

  • @Stoopid512 Thumbs up and cheers to a future newbie from a future newbie. I leave for school this Monday.

  • @holycumulus Which school are you going to if you don't mind me asking??? I just recently graduated from swifts training acadamy on the 5th of this month from the terminal in phoenix AZ....

  • @yourboyethetrucker the itertrip idle i think is just standard in just about every new truck today, i dont think swift has anything to do with that. they do want us to idle less to save money on fuel, but when your in ohio with 90 degree temps and this freakin humidity its real hard not to idle. i idled for 4 days straight and my A/C felt like it was blowing warm air but it was blowing 60 degrees out the vents lol

  • @Lowcountrytrucker yeah re: the idle .. Swift has a idle shutdown on the trucks that shut down (at least for mine) around the 4 min mark when the truck is in park. You can cancel the shutdown and let the idle run all night if you choose, but Swift does reviews on your driving and they tell you where you can improve and idling is one of the categories. There are lots of places that say you cant idle. Shippers and Receivers are a lot of them. Swift understands during different seasons...(cont)
