It is fitting to remember the 8th anniversary of that fateful day on September 11 with a tribute. I can think of non better than this song 'O, America' the lyrics of which was written by Brendan Graham for the group CelticWoman, to the wonderful musical composition and arrangement by a very talented young man, composer and pianist, William Joseph. Since I came to America at age 8, after the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, with a year spent in Yugoslavian refugee camps before arriving to New York City with my Parents, I can attest to the fact that as an immigrant, escaping Godless Communism to a land of freedom probably means more to me than to a person even born in this country.
There are just some things that one appreciates more after having been deprived or denied in an earlier life in another country, even at an early age. My amazement and wonder even in the 50's of coming in on a four propeller, Army airplane for the landing and seeing the Statue of Liberty all lit up and the New York City lights of buildings and cars, are all still etched in my memory.
I have come to love this country as my own, even after visiting my homeland twice since I left it back then, but I realized even after 23 years in returning to a country that was still under Communism back in 1974-78, that I could never really call my homeland "home" after America. That is why it makes me cherish this country and it's people to this day, and am saddened by what I see from some of today's youths. Even with this hard economic times America still outshines all other countries with God's blessings, and abundance. It makes me even more determined to guard it, it's flag with pride and honor.
I hope I did William Joseph's composition and Brendan Graham's lyrics justice in trying to rekindle in all of us, the memory of those who gave their lives on 9-11, and all the armed forces troops who bravely fought and still fight abroad to guard our freedom at home. It was sung from my heart. GOD BLESS AMERICA !!!
O, America Lyrics
Music: William Joseph
Words: Brendan Graham
O, America youre calling,
I can hear you calling me:
You are calling me to be true to thee,
True to thee I will be.
O, America no weeping,
Let me heal your wounded heart:
I will keep you in my keeping,
Till there be a new start.
And I will answer you, and I will take your hand,
And lead you to the sun:
And I will stand by youdo all that I can do,
And we will be as one.
O, America I hear you,
From your prairies to the sea,
From your mountains grand, and all through this land,
You are beautiful to me.
And O, America youre calling,
I can hear you calling me:
You are calling me to be true to thee,
True to thee I will be.
And I will answer you, and I will take your hand,
And lead you to the sun:
And I will stand by you do all that I can do,
And we will beas one.
O, America youre calling
I will ever answer thee.

If only native birn Americans could feel such pride and patriotism as was expressed after the attacks on 9/11/01. Thanks for sharing this and may God's richest blessings be on you and your family.

@mihochito Dear Justin ... thanks for your kind comments. In answer to your question I do not know where the karaoke music might be found to this selection, if there is any, since I used the original soundtrack as mentioned in my comments with the song, and the video, from William Joseph's latest album, adjusted in pitch and tempo for my voice. All credit goes to William Joseph music composer, pianist, David Foster arranger and Brendan Graham, the lyric writer for this lovely song.
