  • I think sometimes we're all just too opinionated.....and forever comparing. Give him his props.....the guy is awesome. His purpose is to show off whatever skills he has so that he can get work. We all should just keep practicing and do what you do. We all have room to grow. I'll be the first to say that.

  • lowfat80 you are wrong is okay to not understand what is happening in this video but dont you compare because is 2 different style of playing this is right now one of the top conga players giovanny is the master we all listen to what he plays but that dosent mean that we all are going to play like him so i think your comment is a out of place so keep practicing anda a estudiar que comenso la escuela y el maestro en este video es pedrito martinez a guarachar

  • dejate de estilos y boludeces la conga es caribena y pedrito un maestro shhhhhhh escuchen

  • sometimes i think all the conga players whatever name they have whatever country there from whatever if there famous or not they all have diffrent styles of playing the congas

  • This style of playing has been evolving for a long time. While I'm impressed with the mastery of technique a lot of drummers are now displaying, I feel that it's more "all roll, no butter" than anything else. The true test is when playing with a group and your solo adds to the song rather than screaming, "look at me" and losing track of the song. I know many of these drummers personally and admire them but I would take Tata Guines or Patato over any one of them.

  • @qualitydag1: i don't play congas, but...isn't the point of a "solo" to show off one's skills? a solo is the time to shine, no? I always thought riding the pocket is for when the other instruments are playing; otherwise there's no pocket to begin with.

  • Did he get those big arms by playing the conga? :-O

  • i HAVE A QYESTION<i JUST RECENTLY GOT A THIRD CONG A,AND I'M LEFT HANDED,IS IT OK TO PLAY WITH QUNITO IN MIDDLE{ Lto r] Conga ,Qunito ,Tumbadora? Thanx

  • uuuuuh,,,i like it,,,,gues,,,,

  • I wish I can play like you..

  • Grande Master!!! Voy por NYC en estos dias...

  • I guess times have changed. These licks remind me of when I used to practice snare drum rudiments when I was a kid. I remember when this sort of technique started and was disappointed because he took the deeply funky "pocket" style drumming that really had depth and conversation and put it aside for the more busy mind set of the youth, I guess its evolution? This is clean and fast but where the poetry and funkiness, the raw street feel gone? Fast passed drumming for a fast passed life.
