that depends if the OCZ case actually touches the memory chips to be a heatsink. if it doesnt, then it's just a protective casing. taking it off would be better for the SSD. I would suggest putting heatsinks on those chips. Sort of like how people take IHS off of CPUS to run them cooler.

Besides for looks, that SSD casing also acts as a heatsink, so you're gonna shorten the life of that thing like crazy by doing that!
Oh, and I wouldn't call Li-Polymer batteries or CPU underclocking newly developed technology!!

Hey mang! I just bought one of these on impulse, and I thought of some awesome questions for you:
1) How does real-life battery life compare to the 1000H*? Is it any better with a different OS like Ubuntu?
2) Is the LCD backlight the most power-hungry part of this laptop considering its size and the fact that it's LED?
3) Will Ubuntu need heavy configuring to fully function on this thing?
4) Are the aluminum parts solid aluminum, or is it just a veneer subject to nasty wearing?
Thanks, 5 *s

looks sexy
I am on the fence
I've ordered dell 9 mini, it's been in production for like a month. Dell take their time, lol. I'm thinking maybe I should cancel the order and buy this one instead. I was going to hackintosh dell mini. But from the pictures 1002HA looks so nice, I love metal chassis. I never had a chance to check it out in person though. Could you compare it to Dell 9 Mini? Which one is better? Is 1002HA hackintoshable? How much did you pay for SSD?
THANKS!

HELP!
My Kingston 2GB DDR2 RAM just arrived.
I installed it according to the video instructions. Fairly simple.
I powered on the ASUS and nothing happens.
Checked the connection again, seems fine.
ASUS would not power on.
Replaced back the original 1GB RAM, ASUS will not power on.
What's wrong?
I bought the Kingston PC2-5300 667MHZ KVR667D2SO/2GR

How did the install go. I am waiting to see and hear your results?
Why did you change the HD?

I changed the HD because I had a solid state hard drive to upgrade to. No moving parts, much faster access and read times.

can you give me details for the gpu memory? is it 128mb or 64mb?
ricejunky 3 years ago
gpu is the intel 945 chipset. It's shared so it depends on how much RAM you have.
