Lost in Translation... Ukrainian-style

Hollywood stars have been banned from speaking Russian in Ukraine's cinemas. Under a new ruling, films can only be shown in their original language or be dubbed in Ukrainian. In protest some cinemas have gone on strike while movie-goers are missing out on the latest blockbusters.

this is kinda funny..Im Ukrainian but i speak Russian..But i agree that if its in Ukraine it should be in Ukrainian...its actully a beautiful language..

its not so much the difference. Ukrainians were pretty much prohibited from speaking their own language when Soviets ruled Ukraine. Ukrainian was not taught in the schools and books and all media was in Russian. Ukrainian was only spoken at home in private. So now that Ukraine is an independant nation again, they want to reestablish their national identity by having TV, Radio, and movies all in the Ukrainian language. There are lingering hard feelings, and rightfully so...
