  • Jordan Rudess is probably the LEAST egotistical member Dream Theater has ever had (which is really saying something considering John Myung is a member). He's the anti-Kevin Moore. Look at his face during the performance: ABSOLUTELY STOIC. Trust me. If Jordan wanted to, he could have played the song EXACTLY like Kevin did. But what would that accomplish? Is he trying to live up to the standard of Kevin? In my opinion, JM became the best keyboardist Dream ever had after "Octavarium" was released.

  • There are a lot of reasons he's doing those extra notes. Mostly because alot of the production effects in space die vest aren't there and neither are the voice overs. It would be boring if he kept playing the same damn chords over and over.

What I object to in this performance is the tempo he's playing at... TOOO FAST.

  • @melquiadesification Go listen to the original on Awake. A lot of the calm atmosphere comes from the ambient sounds and beats from post-production, something that couldnt be done live...so speeding it up and adding a few notes is just JR's style.

  • That's why they dont play it live.

  • great song…it makes me miss Kevin…but DT is still DT…whoever their keyboardist…all hail DT!!

  • @JonteJH2 stupid but you got the point

  • I like Jordan's interpretation on this. Especially in the beginning he has a much better sense of dynamics. The tempo is a bit faster than the original but it's very hard to keep the tempo that slow and keep the piece from stagnating without all the variety in sound provided by a studio recording. All in all I think this is a very good take on a piece intended to be studio recorded rather than played live. Thumbs up!

  • I think JR played up to the original tempo, maybe a little fast, but he wasn't rushing at all. In any case this is a cover. Moore's original's genious lies in it being a slow breath taking song. This is a cover, and being so I think it's very nicely played.

  • Way too fast. Jordan did not get the calm atmosphere of the song.

  • Space Dye Vest Kevin plays is the best

  • My only complaint is that this performence sounds rushed. This is supposed to be a slow song
