One of those golden folk anthems of the early 60s, this Sylvia Tyson song, so memorably rendered by her and her husband Ian, influenced hordes of us young would-be folkies to run out and buy autoharps. They were $25 at Sears in them good old days.

  • What kind of autoharp is that you're playing?

  • @SirCoughsalot Well, NOT a $25 Sears job. It's a late-80s 12-bar, and I stuck an Oscar Schmidt pickup on it.

  • Alonzo, that is an excellent rendition. I always enjoy your vids, such quality. Merry Christmas to you!

  • So good.

  • LOVE it!

  • I like your cover. I like especially that you followed Ian & Sylvia's original and not just the We Five cover, where they made Sylvia's harmony line the lead, and were followed by most subsequent covers, such as Crispian St. Peters, Nancy Griffith or the Bangles. And, of course, the autoharp & guitars. But it also sounds like your own.

  • @roragain Roragain: As far as I know, Sylvia is still "with us" as a solo act, and as part of Quartette. Check her out on YouTube. Unless I missed some very sad news in the recent past. I hope that's not the case. Some of her solo records are impossible to buy, these days, and some were never released in the U.S. But that's even true of the last Ian & Sylvia & the Great Speckled Bird record as far as CD release goes.... I really like her solo version of this song on her CD of the same title

  • Another fine song shines in your excellent treatment. Nice choice.

  • Another one knocked over the fence. Ahh Sylvia, we miss her.

  • Alonzo. Great wall of sound. You have impeccable rhythm and pitch. What talent. Do you do outside studio work? Brian

  • I was more familiar with the We Five version of this song!!! Didn't know Ian and Sylvia had done it, so I checked out their version!!! Thanks for info and Great job on this classic!!!
