Sinopsis: la historia gira en torno a Teito, un ex esclavo con poderes mágicos que se está llevando a la final de graduación para convertirse en un oficial del ejército en el Imperio Barsburg. He does well during the first part of the final exam, but discovers his father's killer in his school and tries to kill him. Lo hace bien durante la primera parte del examen final, pero descubre que su padre la causa de muerte en su escuela y trata de matarlo. Teito eludes capture, but gets caught in the larger struggle between Verloren, the God of Death, and the beings of light sent by Heaven to oppose him: the Seven Ghosts. Teito elude la captura, pero cae en la más grande lucha entre Verloren, el Dios de la Muerte, y los "seres de luz" enviado por el cielo para oponerse a él: los Siete fantasmas.
