Camila Batmanghelidjh visits Google London to discuss her work as CEO and Founder of Kids Company, and her book "Shattered Lives: Children Who Live with Courage and Dignity". This event is part of the Authors@Google series and took place on 7th July, 2009.
Camila is a psychotherapist and social entrepreneur whose work focuses on children marginalised by society. Born in Tehran, she was sent to school in England. Overcoming severe dyslexia, she completed a degree at Warwick University using a tape recorder instead of pen and paper. After setting up KidsCo in Camberwell, she was nicknamed the "Angel of Peckham". She is coming to Google to share her extraordinary experiences from founding a children's charity in the railway arches of South London to raising £50 million and winning multiple awards including Social Entrepreneur of the Year and Woman of the Year.
