Produced by Rob Davenport / CounterCamera Films, in association with Global Exchange. This
film short presents a mosaic of viewpoints on whether conditions for
equitable and coercion-free elections exist in Colombia. These voices
include a state governor, a mayor of a large city, a presidential
candidate, neighborhood youth, a protected witness, and the President
of the National Electoral Commission.
In February, 2010, an international pre-electoral observations
mission, organized by the non-governmental organization Global
Exchange, and hosted by the Colombian Electoral Observation Mission
(MOE), worked to collect and analyze the perspectives of civil society
organizations, political parties, government and administrative
functionaries, and concerned citizens -- prior to Colombia's March 14
Congressional elections. To see a full report of findings of the
findings of that investigation, visit

a powerful indictment of any 'human rights' organization supporting Plan Colombia or Plan Mexico. Plan Mexico is being explicitly promoted by the US Govt. based on their pretense that Plan Colombia was a 'success'!
great work! this video should be required viewing by any NGO that would support a bill to continue supplying the Colombian security forces! The people in it are brave enough to stand up in spite of repression. What about LAWG etc?

However, this video isn't specifically about U.S. policy towards Colombia or México. While I would certainly agree with you that the drug war / plan colombia / plan méxico have had disastrous consequences in the region - this short video tries to present a perspective, from within Colombia itself, on the struggles that grassroots groups have in penetrating the anti-democratic structures within that country.
