  • in this kids case, being weak works in his favor as he is more flexible and can get more whip on the discus. I don't know why he's refused to lift weights, it would only add distance as his form is good. I also don't know why he doesn't get off the ground at his release, he claims it's "straight up wilkins style" but even wilkins knew the importance of triple extension.

  • Well...I think it's pretty easy to see that I can't throw exactly like Wilkin's. However he has been one of the technical models I've followed. As for weight training, I haven't refused it, I've done it for the past two years. My strength levels have gone up, I'm just a skinny kid.

  • how important are discus throwing shoes? iv been thinking about getting some, but i dunno if it really worth it....

  • If you are very serious about throwing you should get some.

  • hey im a discus thrower too, a freshman, I throw in the 120-140 range from the half spin but my throws from the full aren't as good, I have around the same body type, bench-215 squat-315, but I was wondering if you had any tips or pointers on balance and speed, any help would be great, im really trying to take advantage of the full because I seem to have alot of potential.
