I first heard of Mama's Boys with "Needle in the Groove" back in '82, when DJs still had some control of programming and could play anything they thought was good. Then (over here in the States) we didn't hear anything from them until this tune. ("Was that the same band?") Gotta admit that I like "Needle in the Groove" better, because it sounds sharper somehow... but this is still a neat tune with a great positive twist to the lyrics.

What could have been the greatest Irish metal band of them all. Saw them live once, and they blew everyone away. Awesome band.

I love this!! Great song!!...Mama's Boys were right to use new singers...John had a medical difficulty with his vocal chords and couldn't carry on singing...Mama's Boys were far too good a band to simply disappear due to Johns Vocal chord problem...That would really have been a Shame! ! I really loved the 3 piece Mama's Boys and my favourite album is their self titled album, but I also really love "Growing Up The Hard Way"....Very Versatile Band they were too!!..They should have been HUGE!!!!!

You can't blame Mama's Boys for trying to break the American market with this classy slice of AOR. Yes it was different and I'm one of the biggest Mama's Boys fans EVER but a good song is a good song and Mama's Boys NEVER released a bad album. I love it all.
PLUG IT IN, TURN IT UP, MAMA'S BOYS, and especially POWER & PASSION are simply brilliant -- everything afterwards with singers other than John sucked so bad. SO BAD.
