So its not like the 'good old days' anymore when deals were made on a handshake and there was no paperwork required. Today we have contracts, disclosures, addendums and contingencies... its a lot to take in.
After meticulously reviewing each of the documents we use for the transaction of real estate in our area, I pondered what the impact of this documentation was on the general public.
And the bottom line is this... whether your listing your home for sale, or making an offer to purchase a home, know what you're signing. Make sure you ask questions and get good answers. There are many protections for buyers and sellers in the forms we use, but you need to be familiar with what your agreeing to do and not do.
