sigh.... we can't change the past but we can prevent this from happening again in the future. to do that japan needs to first accept its past and take responsibility. the japanese govt needs to stop hiding and denying its past.

You are ignorant for the comfort woman. It is common sense that the comfort woman is a prostitute. The comfort woman in the battlefield was making a packet. It is clear also in the investigation of the U.S. military. Do you know the fact that the U.S. military ordered Japanese Government to make the comfort place for the American soldier when the U.S. military occupied Japan? The U.S. military made jaoanese woman a sex slave.

The figure of 300,000 comfort women is exaggerated. The claim that the Imperial Army abducted so many women is implausible. There are only about 40 complaints, and very few are verified. Even if only 1% of the comfort women complained, there should be 3,000 complaints. Also, this topic only emerged in the early 1990s.
While I am sure that individual women had bad experiences, the claims of a massive, systematic abduction policy seems implausible.

If you listen to the video, you will see that Japanese textbooks do not DENY comfort women. They just touch on the topic very briefly. Also, the teachers belong to the left-wing teachers union, so they teach additional information, not in the textbook.

Nihonshi B (日本史B). Published by Tokyo Shoseki on February 10, 1999. Approved on March 31, 1998. * Comfort women: "Footnote: There were many Korean women who were brought to combat area as wartime comfort women. Recently the victims have been vocally protesting for official apology and individual reparations from the Japanese government." (p. 308)
"脚注:従軍慰安婦として戦地にだされた朝鮮人女性も少なくなか
った。最近になって被害者が日本政府に大して公式謝罪と個人補償 を求める声をあげている。"
Experiences of individual women may be a little different. So of course, if you compare the least extreme one to the most horrible one, there might be some differences. But don't call that exaggeration, because many individual witnesses are still alive.
Why didn't they complain earlier? If I were raped like that, I certainly wouldn't be bragging about it right away. Maybe they needed some time to process. Or maybe they found the right time when people actually paid attention to these things.

Many women responded to calls for work as factory workers or nurses, and did not know that they were being pressed into sexual slavery.
According to Japanese soldier Yasuji Kaneko[40] "The women cried out, but it didn't matter to us whether the women lived or died. We were the emperor's soldiers. Whether in military brothels or in the villages, we raped without reluctance."[41] Beatings and physical torture were said to be common.
