"You will never break free!" I shrieked. "I'm ME now! You're not coming back!"
Preppy-Aly was frozen in shock. Then her outline began to waver. "Like, so not cool." I heard before she faded into nothing.

"Dude. Hard core."
I turned to Goth-Aly. "Excuse me?" Then I realized i didn't care. "When was I YOU then?" I looked her up and down. "I don't remember that."
"You wouldn't." Goth-Aly replied. "You were so far in your depression to notice anything."
I winced, realizing the time that this one had existed. "Why are you here? This is so confusing."
"Well, you're deciding who to be." Goth-Aly said. "You've decided not to become preppy again. Now you decide again."
I was about to state that I'd never become goth when i hesitated. Obviously I was capable of becoming like that. But Nick was back now. Why would I ever have to be depressed/goth ever again?
"What if he left you again? Would you go back to Gerth and become preppy?" She asked, as if hearing my thoughts. Well, she probably could.
"Of course I wouldn't." There was a shimmer to my left and I gasped. Obviously it was quite possible for be to become preppy again. "No. No! NO!" I shouted at the shimmer. "I WOULD NOT!" The shimmer vanished.
"That girl is persistent." Goth-Aly said.
"So are you. If you weren't, you'd have faded back when I decided to be ME."
"But I AM you."
"No you're not. I'm her." I pointed to the normal looking Aly, who hadn't spoken since Preppy-Aly had started her conversation with me. "Not you." I looked back at Goth-Aly.
"Are you so sure? Sure, you have him back, but he's probably going to leave again. How long could he stay with you? He's famous, remember? He hasn't the time for petty little girls that don't even like being noticed. He won't keep you two a secret, or he'll just ditch you of course."
"Stop!" I shouted, covering my ears. "He won't!" But I hardly believed it. Goth-Aly was saying each of my fears in such a matter of fact tone that I couldn't help but believe them.
"Yes, and then he'll go find some pretty famous actress or singer to replace you." Goth-Aly continued, ignoring my outburst. "And you'll be left alone again."
"No. I won't" I said determinedly now. "Because if he wants to go public, then so do I!" I laughed as Goth-Aly started fading. "Because I love him! And I don't care if he's famous! And I won't EVER be so depressed again!" Goth-Aly faded completely. "HA!"
"Well done." Normal-Aly said. I looked back at her. "You still have a decision to make, however."
"I do?"
She nodded. "You need to decide between you and me."
"What's the difference?"
She smiled and suddenly we were standing in my house again. Nick was standing beside me. Regina was on my other side with Bobby beside her. Joe and Kevin were behind me with their girls. Next to Normal-Aly, however, was my family. Dean and my parents. My aunt and uncle and my seven cousins. My grandparents. I gasped. "No."
Normal-Aly looked sympathetic. "I'm sorry."
"I can't decide between my family and my friends!" I shouted at her, grasping Nick's hand as I did. I needed strength, even if he was just an illusion. As soon as I touched him, Normal-Aly and my family began to fade. "NO!" I dropped Nick's hand and they all came back into focus.
"You can't have both, Aly. Your family is going to come calling within the week. You heard the message. They have a nice mansion down in Florida. They want their baby girl back."
"But.. but Dean!"
"Will go. You heard him when he called them back. You can pretend that he loves you too much to leave you, but the truth is that he's going to try and convince you to go with hi. You'll still be able to visit here often enough."
"No..." I gasped. "I can't choose!"
"You have to."
"I can't!"
She didn't reply as I fell to my knees. Neither my family nor my friends moved. They were frozen apparitions of the dream. "Why?"
"Because you may not have the best of both worlds. You are unable to be with your friends and still visit your family, just as you are unable to be with your family and visit your friends nearly as much as you would want. You knew that you would have to make this decision."
"Why now?"
"Because you've just gotten Nick back. If you had been forced to decide a week ago, you would have picked your family just to get away from all reminders of him, admit it."
"I would have..." I mumbled.
"Now you feel the pain that this decision should be causing you. Decide!"
"I can't!" I sobbed.
"Decide NOW."
My sob caught in my throat as I was forced to my feet. It seemed an eternity that I stood there, indecisive. Then the answer was obvious to me.
Normal-Aly smiled. "You've decided." I nodded. "Say it aloud. You'll wake up when you've admitted your choice.
