This is an August 17, 1984 taping of Candi Staton's former Trinity Broadcasting Network TV show "New Direction." This song is the first gospel song Staton wrote after leaving her R&B career in 1982. Her sister Maggie Staton-Peebles and Falicia Calloway do background vocals. On drums: John Sussewell, keyboards: Randy Harper, bass: Don Jones, guitar: Will McFarlane, and keyboardist Joey Holder. More than half of these people played on the "Make Me An Instrument" LP that featured this song. It peaked at #7 on Billboard's Top Gospel Albums chart in 1983.

  • I forget the bass players name out of B'ham Alabama (have to look @ the album), but the I do remember everyone else. Just look @ the vinyl album for proper credits. By the way, that's Candi's sister singing background vocals along with another person's name I can't remember unless looking at this Grammy nominated album from an independent label (Beracah Records) when the so-called movers and shakers were saying we'd never be able. We proved them wrong - BIG Time!... IN CHRIST, of course.

  • Being married to Candi @ the time (until 1999), I'm the drummer. The year was 1985-86 when this was taped at Trinity Broadcasting under the banner of "New Direction," our program on the network. In Christ, I will always love Candi Staton-Sussewell (as we were known back then - a team till death do us part). It didn't work out that way - she left and we're both still here on Earth with Skin.
