  • lol..this totally distorted the whole concept of the story..the book was seriously different from this. The woman was no social worker, she was a psychiatrist who adopted the kid who is by the way thirteen on the book. Why'd they made it this way? The real thing was actually good you know, but then that's hollywood for you.

  • @IrishCat04 it was a scam, by the social worker claiming to be the child's foster mother.

    As I understand it, she was even using an old photo of another child and passing it off as the boy she made up. The actual subject of the photograph (who was leading a happy life totally separate to these events) was quite shocked to find out that he'd indirectly been used in her scam.

  • did they find out if the boy was real or not?

  • Armistead is a good author. I don't think that Robin Mork was well cast in this movie. His masterpiece is Tales, then it all seemed to be down hill from there. Tales is good enough to watch fifty times.

  • This is the best movie - too bad they had to pepper it with fowl language, which makes me hesitant to recommend it as vigorously as I would otherwise.
