The renewed rivalry between Blake and Middleton, two former all-black schools before segregation, drew about 2,000 fans to Raymond James Stadium on Oct. 3, during the Blake-Middleton Classic.
The rivalry, aside from two premier marching bands stirring up the crowd at halftime, appeared to be somewhat lacking as Middleton cruised to a lopsided 38-8 victory.
The Tigers snapped a three-game losing skid and improved to 2-3, while the Yellow Jackets remained winless at 0-5.
Middleton broke open a close game with 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Before that, the Tigers had an 18-8 lead and the outcome was still in doubt.
