Six members of drug gang, the Zetas, Mexican soldiers were shot dead in the state of Zacatecas, recently. But several other gang members escaped after a shootout with Mexican soldiers.
Contact firing took place between soldiers stationed with the Zetas gang member who was a convoy on the freeway Huitzilamilpillas on the border between the state of Zacatecas and Jalisco. Six gang members were killed, while none of the wounded soldiers.
Mexican army failed to subdue the other gang members. They only confiscated 10 guns and two armored vehicles of the drug gang members.
A total of 42 thousand people have been killed since Mexican President Felipe Calderon declared war on drug cartels late 2006
