Moqueca (is a traditional Brazilian seafood stew (Muqueca, Portuguese) . It basically consists of fish, onions, garlic, tomatoes, cilantro, and additional ingredients. Here is the SizzlingPots.com version of this traditional dish in honor of the World Cup 2010 Football team from Brazil !!

  • If you want to see the original recipes, search for "moqueca baiana" or "moqueca capixaba" (from Espirito Santo).

    Great effort, thought. :)

  • There are some variations of Moqueca in Brazil, more like a dispute between the ones made on the states of Bahia (with palm oil and coconut milk, which makes the dish hearty) and Espirito Santo (without palm oil and coconut milk, but with olive oil and urucum - bixa orellana -, an natural pigment of red color, traditionally used by the natives of that region, the Tupis).

    Both moquecas are tradicionally made in large burnt clay pots (panelas de barro) and there's no ginger on any recipe...
