I think what you're trying to say is that she should sing from her DIAPHRAGM, not chest. She has a lovely voice, just no support, which does not come from your chest.... but yes... your diaphragm. ;)

As explained in previous comments, the song was fill for a band that did not show. We know it was not ready. Even so, your take is way harsh. Why don't you post one of yourself singing it with only a day's preparation and we'll see how it sounds? Laura doesn't even do country. She was just playing.
Sure she messed up, but she's not "off the whole song" and she doesn't sing through her "noise". It sounds that way because of a slight phase offset between two microphone signals.

Yeah, this song wasn't even on the radar as a performance number, but Laura helped to fill the time until it got dark enough for fireworks, because the band that supposed to be there flaked.
