Can someone explain to me how asking "God, why have you forsaken me?" could be seen as an expression of faith? That makes no sense to me.

The man at the arrest is wearing a "linen cloth", not a "white robe".
From Young's LITERAL Translation...
Mark 14:51-52 (Jesus' arrest) - "and a certain young man was following him, having put a linen cloth about [his] naked body, and the young men lay hold on him, and he, having left the linen cloth, did flee from them naked."
Mark 16:5 (The tomb) - "and having entered into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right hand, arrayed in a long white robe, and they were amazed."

@TheEruditepolymath The concept of "salvation" was a universal religious theme. Early Christians recognized this and, in order to morph the Jewish Messiah into the savior of all mankind, they added traits of pagan savior myths to the Passion myth.
