Despite the lack of reviews, I decided to purchase this item because of cost and functionality and my need for something that can do what

this claims. I want to help anyone else make an informed decision so here's my honest review:

FIRST IMPRESSION:
I LOVED IT. The set looks "clean" and nice...with some adjustment, it

immediately reminded me of a regular kit (even though all pads are the same size. I didn't get it for the sounds built in. I was always planning to trigger BFD, Addictive Drums, or ToonTrack with this,

so...but looking at it? I would have assumed the sounds were about what they are...generic and sampled..not the best quality, but would do in a pinch.

EASE OF INSTALL:
No need to install, really. I plugged my MIDI cable into the back and then began tweaking inside BFD2 (learning the notes sent by the drum brain and adjusting them to kit pieces). As far as the learning the notes? BFD won hands down...ToonTrack was fairly easy, but did not

tell how to do it from the start...had to figure it out on my own. Once I learned? It was NO PROBLEM for either program.

FUNCTIONALITY:
The brain is not as responsive as the pads. That being said? It WORKS...it does what it is supposed to. I will be getting an Alesis I/O (and here is the only reason why) because the "brain" only has inputs for the current pads. The I/O will allow me to expand the kit almost doubling it's size, increasing my control of the pads (MIDI notes, cross talk rejection, and sensitivity), and hopefully increasing the responsiveness of play (ghost notes, flams, and rolls).

OVERALL QUALITY:
GOOD...not A+, but a good SOLID B+....better than I expected, and I expected A LOT! :) With excessive banging, I expect the pads to lose responsiveness (honestly)...but the good thing is the pads are $35 each to replace (so are cymbals)...so...it will do for now. I am no professional? So I don't need professional tools. I need something I can play and this thing ROCKS (when hooked to a better drum library than the stock brain).

FINAL THOUGHTS:
I couldn't have spent $150 in a better way at this stage in my studio. I LOVE this thing and don't know how I got along without it! AND, since quitting smoking I've put on 20 pounds...hopefully this will help me shed that by excercising daily banging out some nice beats!

ha ha...yeah....if you haven't already, you oughta check out the HD re-review I did of the Medeli drum kit. I wish I could link it here, but they don't allow for links in the comment section. You can find it from my main page though...

    Thanks for watching!

That's really uncalled for, but I've ALREADY done another review were I spoke less & played the drums more. If nothing else, you don't have to watch, but if you decide to watch (since I'm doing these for the benefit of people like you who want more information...for free) the least you could do is be polite. But I guess it's par for the course with this generation.

If you want to watch the one where I talk less (in HD) search for Medeli Drum kit review.

    Thanks for watching.

  • Nice demo, bro. Thanks for the detailed review. Nice chops, too!

  • @bobbyswamp

Thanks...and thanks for watching! I have gotten much better now that I have been playing more frequently and gotten back into the swing of things. I redid this review in HD because I got a few comment that I talked too much and didn't drum enough (plus I wanted to show this kit in HD). If I get my second set of business loans, I'll be selling OSP 502 drums (same as these) and the DKX-508 (very nice).

    Thanks again for watching!

I can't advise you on what you should do. It is up to you. I prefer my e-drums. With BFD & Superior Drummer, I can have 20-30 professionally mic-ed drumsets but I only have to own 1 drumset. They are NOT free programs. You can google them.

I dont know what you are trying to do or what sound you are trying to achieve, so it is impossible for me to give you advice. Even if I knew, your style of music and my style of music are totally different. It is a choice YOU must make.

  • @CheapGearGuy Do you think I better not sell my Acoustic Drum? 'Cause it's really very loud (I am refering to my actual drum) By the way, are these programs you mentioned for free?

  • @elfmagicia

Actually, if you watch this video and my other one (Medeli Review 2), you can see what these drums sound like. I did a full review where you can see and hear these drums...but to answer your question, NO, these don't sound like REAL drums. No E-drums do. You can make them sound real by adding BFD or Superior Drummer.

    Thanks for watching.

  • @CheapGearGuy Hey, cool video! I have a question... I have an acoustic drum (my 1st drum) but it isn't so good, even for begginers, its sound it's weird, so I am thinking about buying a E-Drum. I saw at MusicStore's site and saw this drum and I am thinking about buying it, after I sell my drumset.... What do you think? Does your E-Drum sound like an acoustic drum? Cause I don't want to buy it if it hasn't a natural sound.... Thanks
