Pahlavi modernized Iran by building numerous public universities(FREE to ALL, unlike west),free school lunch, gave equal rights to women (women even could become a judge), sent approx. 50,000 students overseas to study in the best universities and return to Iran, people had all social freedom,he nationalized Iranian oil, paid 100s of American professors including Gaylord Harnwell to teach at Iranian univesities, spoke fluent French and good English,but Carter and General Heiser betrayed him

@ggameon LoL, Iran was a Kingdom in the middle even in the old testament of the bible and USA was not even a country, USA did not gave him the job, the Pahlavi was a Iranian Dynasty, something Americans are not familiar with except with the stupid Bush clans who ruined the USA, LOL, a donkey shot as a president who even didn't serve in the military. @Arya021 The gap between new and old generations became too much. Oil money only went to big cities, so agriculture disappeared, the farmers moved to cities and became the Army mullahs needed.

@Arya021 It's easy to provide things for "free" with oil money - which Iran only received because the West created the modern industrial economy. And actually, at that time, university education was free in the UK too.
