    We did space the shingles above the grace ice and water shield with a mesh fabric to address your very point. It may be tough to see. It is black in color and is about 1/2" thick.

  • Beautiful roof! The Asian style blends so well with the natural setting.

    I hope your cedar shingles will hold up alright. The roof is unlikely to leak because you used Grace ice-n-water shield but there is no ventilation space below the shingles to allow them to dry completely. Look at old barns. Their shingles will last for 80 years because they have ventilation from below. When I detail cedar shingle roofs, I always show skip sheathing on furring with the furring space vented top and bottom.
