Taught by Cornell University Professor Drew Harvell, the Biology and Biodiversity of Marine Invertebrates is an introduction to the biology and evolution of the major invertebrate phyla, concentrating on marine representatives. Emphasis is placed on the evolution of form and function, and the ecology, behavior, physiology, chemical ecology, and natural history of invertebrates. The course is taught at Shoals Marine Lab during a 3 week session in the summer. Appledore Island's unique location, provides an excellent venue for the study of freshly collected and in situ representatives of most major phyla.
